You may remember that Tommy Robinson was thrown in a British jail and given a 13-month sentence, for standing outside of a courthouse and reporting/filming a case where four Muslim men raped a 16-year-old girl after she had asked them for directions. I do identify them as Muslim because of the many reports, in the U.K., of Muslim gangs raping young girls. I do feel this is pertinent. Robinson claimed he was waiting there to interview one of the four men about the case.
Reports of his treatment during trial … a biased trial against Robinson, and … the abrupt and harsh sentence … outraged many of Robinson’s supporters. Then, the reports of him being housed in an area with other Muslim men who were serving time for rape and other crimes and deliberately putting him in physical danger … boiled the “pot of rage” over for his supporters.
Robinson’s supporters had claimed that 13 months in prison was the same as a death sentence, considering the presence of Muslim gang members in prison. They also claimed that, while he may have breached a reporting ban, the law was applied harshly and unfairly to him.
On Wednesday, the Court of Appeal said the initial ruling was made after a “fundamentally flawed” process.
However, he is out on bail … and, could actually be placed back in jail. And, so … the Tommy Robinson saga … continues.
